8th Week

We were instructed to pair for this project. Yes, for the 2nd project we will be working on modelling the 3D designs of an exhibitional booth. Mr Zul reminded us to keep the design simple and not too complicated. I had teamed up with Rose, that was doing Poslaju for her previous assignment which is the bus stop.

Since it's a pair work, only one brand could be chosen to use for our exhibitional booth. Rose and I agreed on using Tarik Jeans because it appealed to us more. There's also a lot of ideas especially about putting a runway in the booth with big LCD screens and stuffs.

Form follows function and vice versa

Form follows function is a principle design that basically how if an example was given, say a building must be build to meet it's intended function. Easier example would be a mosque is used for praying. Thus the shape of the mosque should be build to meet it's function, that is praying. However form follows function does not only apply to building, it also applies to other objects as well such as automobile and product design.

Function follows form on the other hand is the reverse psychology of form follows function. Say, let's take handphone as an example. People used to wear watch on their hand to know the time but nowadays even handphone have clock installed in it thus handphone could also be considered as watch. Thus, handphone had taken the function of a clock as well. That's basically what function follows form.

7th Week

Finally done with the model of the bus stop. it definitely have been a very challenging assignment indeed. I'm not very good at glueing the different parts together and I'm not very happy with the outcome of the model too because I know that I could do better than that but that's how life's work, I guess. It did not come out as well as I thought it should be but hey it's better than nothing right?

I heard that the next assignment is about exhibition booth.

6th Week

Some more inspirations I found through the net to aid me in finishing the bus stop project.

If I were given a chance, I would actually love to something as creative as the bus stop above. It was inspired from Wizard of Oz and I absolutely adore the modern design and the minimalistic approach.

5th Week

The ads that I would put at the bus stop to represent Tarik Jeans would be these two images. It represents and shows exactly what Tarik Jeans is all about thus making it easier for the user of the bus stop to reach out to Tarik Jeans.

Obviously, Tarik Jeans is targeted towards the teenagers - young adults audiences. So I have to make sure that my designs should be able to attract the people from that age group. I do have to bear in my mind about that when executing my bus stop later.

4th Week

This week, we are told to show our sketches; and I was thinking the concept of my bus stop would be jeans and only jeans so that the concept of the product would reach out to the people that will use or see the bus stop.. The bus stop would be completely wrapped around by a denim texture and the middle pole would look-alike the zipper of the jeans. This is the texture that I’m planning to use in the making of the bus stop.

3rd Week

We are only allowed to choose local company in our project, so I had decided to choose Tarik Jeans. It is a fairly new company that had been establish in 2010. Staying true to its name Tarik Jeans's main product is obviously; jeans. But it also sell varsity jackets and t-shirts as well.
